Oh the pressure he must've felt! I'm not talking about President Barack Obama (damn! don't you like the way that sounds)... I'm talking about Chief Justice John Roberts.
Over two million people on the National Mall looking over your shoulder as you administer the oath of office to the most powerful man in the world and the first Black President of the United States ... and you blow it!
Well, President Obama (and his team) thought of everything: instead of providing on-going fodder for the ditto-heads that clamour for the brand of talk radio the spews from the pie-hole of Rush Limbaugh and Fox News Network, he summoned Chief Justice Roberts to the White House on Wednesday for a do-over of the oath... just to get it right.
A statement from the Obama White House counsel reads: "We believe that the oath of office was administered effectively and that the president was sworn in appropriately yesterday. But the oath appears in the Constitution itself. And out of an abundance of caution, because there was one word out of sequence, Chief Justice Roberts administered the oath a second time."
Per the Constitution, Obama became the President at noon on Tuesday, even without the oath.
In the Constitution, the Presidential Oath of Office reads: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

You can imagine the roar in the media if a BUsh or any republican would have failed the oath. But Obama has privileges I guess, this is dangerous.

1. Do you think the Founding Fathers would of really cared about the exact order. Our society has grown to such a narrow focus that when a mistake is made we're ready to go to court or the firing squad.
2. The President of the United States does not summon the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. The Chief Justice does not work for the Executive Branch.

Fox News was all over it, wondering aloud if Obama was even the President... and it was Chief Justice Roberts (a Bush appointee) who "failed" in administering the oath!

1. The Founding Fathers didn't have a 24 hour news cycle, microphones, and big screen tv's to capture their every utterance... much of what is attributed to them is speculation.
2. The Chief Justice doesn't just show up at the White House... he has to be invited (or summoned)!
As the second full day in office begins for President Obama I hope that corporate media will relax and allow the President to do his job. Already they are whining about transparency because they can't be in the room for every little thing that occurs. CNN seems to be leading the band with the whining, seemingly upset because one of their primary news stories was neutralized by the retaking of the Presidential oath and all they got was pictures and audio. Transparency means that it's not hidden, not that you can look over his shoulder as covert micromanagers and armchair quarterbacks. Get a grip.
It hurt him, he just could not say it. He was more use to pronouncing sentencing to black men not the oath of the office of the President of the United States, he almost started off with "having found you guilty by a Jury of your peers" but he caught himself, and did anyone notice that West Virginia Byrd, had to attend another "meeting" get it Meeting, you know klan, meeting Byrd oh never mind.
