This news was buttressed by Gen. Colin Powell when he told ABC News on Wednesday that he will not be going to the Democratic National Convention.
"I do not have time to waste on Bill Kristol's musings,” Powell told ABC News. “I am not going to the convention. I have made this clear."
After telling ABC News by phone that he would not be going to the Democratic National Convention, Powell ended the phone conversation without entertaining any follow-up questions as to whether he would be crossing party lines to endorse Obama.

A little over a year ago, the Telegraph in the UK opined that Powell was jumping on Obama's bandwagon here.
plez sez: it's the middle of the summer. the Olympics are in full swing and there is very little in the way of politics going on for another two to three weeks. so any little tidbit about either one of the major party candidates is fodder for speculation.
it is no secret that Obama has met on a number of occasions with Powell. he has sought out Powell's advice on foreign policy for the past 18 months.
it doesn't take a BIG LEAP to think that Obama may be in the process of securing a plum endorsement from a top administration official from the last three republican administrations (reagan and both bushes). his foreign policy bonafides trump those of anyone in memory, even when you consider his colossal blunder in pushing for the war in iraq as W's secretary of state (which Obama has opposed from the start).
i received an e-mail earlier today from a listserve that claimed that Powell planned to speak in denver (at the dnc)... obviously, this person spends way too much time tuned into the fox news network! but i believe there may be a kernel of truth in there somewhere... he may not plan to speak at the dnc, but maybe Powell is seriously considering coming out for Obama in the weeks leading up to the dnc?!?
food for thought in plezWorld
