But now I read in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the mother of the young lady who performed "lip service" on the night in question has gone public saying that the sentence was too harsh. She regrets that she didn't get the prosecutors to drop the charges.
Excerpts of the article:
The tape shows Wilson having intercourse with a 17-year-old. Both appear intoxicated in the video. Wilson was charged with raping the 17-year-old but was acquitted.
In another part of the video, Wilson is lying on his back in one of the motel room beds and receiving oral sex from Cannon's daughter. Wilson does not appear to be forcing the girl in the video. [Ms.] Cannon said her daughter told her the sex was consensual.
plez sez: HUH?!? Come again?!? Veda Cannon, 39, of Douglasville, GA said the sex between her daughter, Wilson and four other teens was consensual and regrets she didn't ask prosecutors not to charge them. What mother, no, what parent in their right mind would condone their daughter having an oral sex train being run on them? What the f**k is going on with these people! Now I'm thinking: the girl's mother is the one who should be in jail.
Her 15-year-old daughter had FIVE funky, drunk boys run their nasty little dicks up in her daughter's mouth and she doesn't think that's criminal? She's quoted as saying, "She did not want any of this to happen. She was friends with all of them."
Word to the mother: friends don't let friends skeet in their friend's mouth!
But I guess that's why she was a 37-year-old grandmother; her daughter (who is now an 18-year-old girl) is the unmarried mother of a 2-year-old son! Count 'em... that's 3 generations of one family that's shot to HELL!
It makes me want to holla: WTF!

OMG PREACH IT!!!!!!
She was 15, she could not legally consent. I don't understand what is so hard for people to understand this. She may have thought she consented, but by law, she cannot consent. The age of consent in GA is 16. It was Wilson's responsiblity being 17 to know the situation.
Yes, three generations. Good god.
But then...what mother does not KNOW that her FIFTEEN year old is out getting F'ed UP in EVERY sense of the word??? They were INTOXICATED AND VIDEO taping themselves, sexing with multiple partners...this is a case to be picked apart (by psychologists) on Suh-hooo MANY levels....
Lawd Ha'Murcy! They's gonna all need some he'p from yo' gurl:Alexyss Tylor on da Pow-uh o' dey Punnany.
This is so ridiculous ALL I can do is laugh...to keep from crying...
kitty and CAP,
this is soooo BAD, on soooo many levels! there are STILL no winners in this whole episode. poor Genarlow happens to be the whippin' boy on the face of it, but we cannot leave the other 5 boys, the 2 girls, and the PARENTS of all of these kids blameless.
but i still have to ask, WHAT MOTHER would defend the "friend" who received a blowjob from her daughter?!? ugh! it leaves a bad taste in my mouth!
Sounds like yet another case of "mama's got issues" and "daddy ain't there" (or don't care). Makes you wonder where we're headed . . . don't it?
Word to the mother: friends don't let friends skeet in their friend's mouth!
LMAO!!!!

I am reminded of that scene in that Tyler Perry play where Madear talks to that boy on the phone.
How old is your mama?..How Old is your Grandma?…How old is your Great Grandma?
Don’t talk to that boy; they have babies to young
Plez we may not agree on a lot of things, we were are dead on with this case. The sentence may have been harsh, but let the boy out and let the mother serve out the remainder of his sentence.
Lori,
I think we both know where the need to accept this kind of abhorrent behavior is leading us... and it ain't a good place, either!
LLR,
I think we are probably more alike than either of us would like to admit! *smile* But with that said, I am certain that we are both of the same mind concerning this case.
Like I said in an earlier post, I was pretty upset when I read about the treatment this young man had received, especially when the story is couched as two high school sweethearts who innocently have an evening of consensual sex and then the boy is persecuted by the Big Bad System of Injustice!
Unfortunately, this case is nothing of the sort. After an evening of alcohol and drugs, and - for lack of a better word - a videotaped gangbang with a underage girl (whose behavior is apparently condoned by her mother who claims this was done by and with her "friends")... these "boys" got caught up in the legal system.
After getting closer to the truth with the Duke Lacrosse Team Rape Allegation & Circus, the Shaquanda Cotton School Attack & Circus, and now the Genarlow Wilson Gangbang & Circus... I'm more inclined to reserve judgment when sensational news hits the wire and wait until the story pans out.
In every one of these cases, the adage that "there's (at least) two sides to EVERY story" holds true!

I may have figured it out. We are alike when “old school” stuff comes into play. We might not agree on political stuff like guns, but this is just some old school I want to kick that boy, that girl, the other girl, and the mama’s ass stuff here.
Now this is where the 2nd amendment comes in. I have a 1 year old daughter and like I said in the other posts, the safest place for those boys would be in jail/prison.

When a “big story” hits the airways, I am always suspicious until a few more facts come out. It’s not like the box wasn’t guilty of the crimes that he was charged with. The sentence may have been a little stiff. On top of that didn’t the other boy take a plea?
I think that’s what’s going on here in these “hot cases.” Just like in the Cotton case, they reject the pleas, roll the dice with the jury, and want a do over after the sentence is handed down. Then all of a sudden they want folk to rally behind them like they are victims.
Like someone else said, he better be happy that he didn’t get the rape conviction.
Despite the craziness in this world I have posted a special treat (imho) for Fathers on My Intimate Side:-). HAPPY Father's Day to ALL who make sure THEIR children do NOT experience THIS Freakery!
Plez,
I had to come back to this, especially after hearing the interview with Genarlo Wilson's mother and how she explained things went down. Many have stated above that the boy, and the girl are indeed guilty of having sex, performing a sexual deed. According to the mom, her son was to be convicted as a Child Molester, if he plead guilty to that charge, he in fact could not live in her household, since she has a young daughter, come within a certain distance of schools, churchs, daycares etc....must register as a sex offender and live with this charge for the rest of his life. She convinced him not to plead guilty. One other thing a middle age White Female School teacher was found guilty of child molestation, for having sex with three of her students. THis case was taking place in the courtroom next door, the woman was sentenced to 90 days, Genarlo was sentenced to 10 years. Guilt is guilt, yes, but the sentencing is a miscarriage of justice beyond belief. What Thurbert Baker is doing is a miscarriage, the people put him into office to be objective and fair, but he looks to me more like Clarence Thomas everyday. Just my 2 cents.
BTW really dig your spot!
Mizrepresent,
thanks for coming back... i am glad that you feel comfortable stating your views in plezWorld. i don't ask that we always agree, but i would hope that we can always leave with respect for each other.
Genarlow got a bad rap... and got caught up in an unfortunate situation. i sure hope that Thurbert Baker ends this appeal soon and let's this young man get out of jail and move on with his life.
he got 10 years and sex offender status for having oral sex with a girl 2 years younger than him. And was then used as the case to motivate the legislature to change the law so that it wouldn't be as harsh. It's obvious she didn't just let it slide or else she wouldn't have had him charged in the first place. But the punishment does not fit the crime, especially considering he was a minor at the time.
