ANTM 11 - A Guilty Pleasure in plezWorld

Cycle 11 of America's Next Top Model kicked off a few weeks ago with a bevy a nubile beauties from around the country (and one big surprise - one of the girls is a dude!).

Yessir!

The girl who doesn't really look like a girl, really isn't a girl... Isis is a pre-op transsexual dude! As if there isn't enough drama with 14 girls dukin' it out for a modeling contract for Tyra Banks... now add in a fake girl and watch the weave fly!

Hump Day is my chance to appreciate the fairer sex. The premise of the show is easy: ex-Super Model Tyra Banks and her cast of characters take 14 young women from around America and transforms them into super models by the end of the cycle. Using weekly photo shoot competitions and a final runway show, the last contestant standing is crowned America's Next Top Model (ANTM); she gets a photo spread in Seventeen magazine, a modeling contract, and all the Cover Girl cosmetics that she can stuff in an overnight bag.

In past cycles (8 & 9 to be exact), I successfully picked the eventual winner. Cycle 11 is going to be a challenge, because there was a big shake up in the plezWorld rankings after the hair makeover episode... my favorite contestant from Week 1 (Brittany) was eliminated! She was by far the most beautiful girl out of the bunch (maybe too beautiful), her good looks and her lack of ability to draw the most from them during the swimsuit photo shoot caused her demise after Week Three.

So now plezWorld is in a quandary as to who is in the Top Three.

Will it be the southern belle Clark with her new brunette truss? Will it be the exotic Sheena who figures to be a younger version of Kimora Lee Simmons? Will it be the quirky Euro-look of Marjorie? Or will plezWorld go with the surprisingly awesome shots of Joslyn (the lone Black girl who remains in the competition)? Well, the ballots are in... and I even bounced a few ideas off of plezWife, but she isn't much help as she is still reeling with the loss of Brittany!

Without further ado, I present the plezWorld Top Three Prediction for Cycle 11 of America's Next Top Model:
Elina - She's mysterious and a bit of an enigma... and she's killer gorgeous with that red hair after the makeover!

America's Next Top Model Cycle 11 - Elina

Joslyn - Not very impressive in person (even though, I love her Southern accent), but her pictures are stunning!

Marjorie - Think of a pretty Audrey Hepburn in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" ... right down to the quaint European accent!

ANTM9: And The Winner Is...

Way back in mid-October, plezWorld had a post on my main Guilty Pleasure after weekends of college football and consuming large bowls of rocky road ice cream: it's those fine ladies who grace my television every week under the guise of Tyra Banks's "America's Next Top Model." For Cycle 9, I decided to add my own prognostication as to who I thought should win.

The weeks rolled by and two of my three favorites were removed from the show. Ambreal was eliminated TWICE, the first time, the other contestant volunteered to leave, thus sparing Ambreal for a few more weeks. Lisa's lack of confidence finally did her in, and she was sent packing.

Saleisha made it to the finals against a tall, beautiful, and very blonde Chantal. They competed in a show by Chinese designer Qi Gang... the dresses were complex masterpieces. Both models looked great, but my favorite stole the show!

Politics, Sports, and now High Fashion... plezWorld sure can pick 'em!

Saleisha is AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL.

ANTM9 - A Guilty Pleasure in plezWorld

They're ba-a-a-ck! Cycle 9 of America's Next Top Model kicked off a few weeks ago and my Wednesday nights are now complete. After my weekly football fix (all day Saturday with SEC & ACC teams, boo-hoo'ing with the Dirty Birds on Sunday, up half the night on Monday night, and then Thursday Night College Football), I can always count on Hump Day to bring out my appreciation of the fairer sex. The premise of the show is easy: ex-Super Model Tyra Banks and her cast of characters takes 13 young women from around America and transforms them into super models by the end of the show. Using weekly photo shoot competitions and a final runway show, the last contestant standing is crowned America's Next Top Model (ANTM); she gets a photo spread in Seventeen magazine, a modeling contract, and all the Maybelline cosmetics she can stuff in an overnight bag.

As is my custom, I've been following Cycle 9 with interest. This time around, I picked my top three a few weeks ago and I tune in on a weekly basis to make sure that they don't get sent home. It's been kind of rough, because all three have been in the bottom two and risked elimination. Without further ado, my top three are:
  • Saleisha - She's an excellent model and is almost too cute (even though, I'm not crazy about her hair style after the makeover)!
  • Lisa - Long, lean, and FINE!
  • Ambreal - Understated elegance, slamming body, and a brilliant mind!

An Old School G on "Cheaters"

WARNING: Kids, don't try this at home. Bo is a PAID PROFESSIONAL.

This short vignette is from the wildly popular show known as "Cheaters" (one of the CW Network's finer efforts no doubt).

plez sez: i'm not a player! and i'm certainly not a pimp! but Bo (the antagonist) gives an Oscar-worthy performance while paying keen awareness to the finer nuances of the art of being a player and a pimp.

and if you didn't learn anything from the video, you need to watch it again:
    • although, Babydoll (the protagonist) was verbally abused, Bo never layed a hand on her... back in the day, he would've been called a "Playa from the Himalayas"!
    • when Old Girl #2 (the extra) tried to slither away, Bo ever so gently pulled her back into his warm embrace; she did eventually escape, but only after Bo realized that he didn't want to subject her to undo scrutiny and embarrassment (he's still a gentleman).
    • in the midst of all this madness (getting ambushed by a camera crew, getting his keys snatched, and getting confronted by one of his "made ladies"), he still had the clarity of mind to remember that he needed to pay for his meal ("I'm gonna tell his woman to pack my goddamn food up and pay her... you know how important my food is to me").
    • he stayed in character throughout the entire ordeal ("I'm an Old School G... from South Park, [expletive deleted]!").
    • how about that Super Soaker Pimp Slap! (and he still didn't lay a hand on her).
    • and you'll notice that Babydoll did hang around until he drove off (even though she was soaked by her 40 oz. Slurpee bath)... i'll give you 2-to-1 odds that once the release papers were signed and the cameras were turned off, she was laid up with the Bo later that night.

    • and you gotta love his proclamation at the end: "I been an Old School G all my goddamn life and gonna be one till the day I die!"
it's a given that the entire episode was kinda sad, because you could see that deep down, Bo really loves Babydoll and he was really hurt by her actions... but i have to admit that i got a good laugh out of it.

Disclaimer: I object to the mistreatment of women, except in those rare cases when they really ask for it... and babydoll wallowed all in it!
