It took fours months to work its way out, but it was announced earlier today that Bristol Palin - 18 year old daughter of former Republican vice president nominee and governor of Alaska Sarah Palin - gave birth to a little boy. Keeping with the Palin naming convention, they named him Tripp. If you recall, his young uncle's name is Trig and he has another uncle named Track.
Back in September 2008, the blogosphere was abuzz with rumors that the governor's infant was in fact the son of her then 17 year old daughter, Bristol, but soon after the rumors surfaced, the Palin camp announced that her daughter was already 5 months pregnant!
plezWorld entered the fray spending countless hours in a cramped basement office in the middle of the night trying to ferret out the truth of the Palin pregnancies: here and here.
Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston (reportedly the baby's father) are both 18 years of age, neither has graduated from high school - Levi has dropped out of school to become an electrician and Bristol is taking GED classes for her diploma. Bristol's mother is the 44 year old governor of Alaska. Levi's mother is 42 years old and was recently arrested on felony drug charges.

plez sez: the soap opera of the wasilla hillbillies is winding to a close. i can't see how plezWorld can wring another story out of these characters... maybe it's best we just leave them in peace (if they promise to quietly live out the rest of their miserable lives in the relative obscurity of the great white north).
Over the weekend, I got sidetracked because sitemeter took a powder. Well, plezWorld is back with my sights set on that FRAUD and FAKE Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska. She's a liar. She's a charlatan. She's a separatist and a secessionist. She's left her family (young daughter, pregnant teenage daughter, and baby boy with Down syndrome who was probably birthed by her teenage daughter - check it out here, here, and here) to scratch her high aspirations itch. Don't forget about her strong arm tactics that led to the Troopergate investigation, that she no longer plans to cooperate with.
And to top it off, she wants to overturn Roe vs. Wade (the right of American women to have the choice to have an abortion to end an unwanted pregnancy). Well, I'm not the only one things ole girl is trying to "fake her way to the top."
On September 12, Bloomberg.com has an article that called Sarah Palin "clueless during her interview with ABC News's Charles Gibson, read full article here, excerpts follow:
ABC News anchor Charles Gibson got the get, the first mano- a-womano sit down with the Republican vice presidential nominee, Sarah Palin.
Palin may not have blinked when John McCain asked her to be his running mate. Last night, however, found her frozen in the Klieg lights as the dogged interlocutor set his sights on his visitor.
Peering down at Palin through reading glasses set at the tip of his nose, foot circling over knee ever more impatiently, Gibson, 65, wouldn't let her coast. Yes, she had mastered the pronunciation of Georgia president Mikhail Saakashvili's name, not to mention that of Iran's Mahmud Ahmadinejad. And maybe that would have been good enough on ``Good Morning America.''
But no-one had coached her in something called the Bush Doctrine. Doctrine? What doctrine would that be, Charlie?
Palin, 44, apparently never heard of the Bush Doctrine until yesterday. She flashed a smile nearly as frozen as her running- mate's and did that tenth-grader thing of tap-dancing around the question, skittishly ad libbing her way with gibberish about Bush's ``global vision.''
Gibson was having none of it, pressing her for specifics she didn't have at her command and finally -- his glare set to iceberg blue, foot circling like a lasso -- he impatiently explained what the doctrine is, when it was introduced, and gave her another chance to answer.
Few Overseas Trips
My sympathy for Palin lasted only as long as it took me to remember that it was Palin who had insisted, at the top of the interview, that she's ready to lead the country on a moment's notice. Asked whether she had ever been outside the U.S. before her recent trip to the Middle East, she answered, ``Canada. Mexico.'' Asked what heads of state she had dealt with, she referenced all those trade delegations that came to Alaska looking to do some business.
When the interview turned to Iraq and Iran, Palin's innocence of diplomatic nuance, not to mention global politics, was something she couldn't dance around. We're America, she said, we don't have to put up with those uppity Eye-ranians.
Does she believe we are doing God's will in Iraq? ``I wouldn't presume to know God's will, Charlie,'' she answered gamely. Gibson was ready with a clip of her sermonizing not long ago in church and she danced around that one, too.
Gibson didn't ask the candidate if she has any clue about the principle of separation of church and state on which her beloved United States was founded. I wish he had.
On September 12, an editorial in the New York Times discussed her lack of a world view, read the full article below and below:
As we watched Sarah Palin on TV the last couple of days, we kept wondering what on earth John McCain was thinking.
If he seriously thought this first-term governor — with less than two years in office — was qualified to be president, if necessary, at such a dangerous time, it raises profound questions about his judgment. If the choice was, as we suspect, a tactical move, then it was shockingly irresponsible.
It was bad enough that Ms. Palin’s performance in the first televised interviews she has done since she joined the Republican ticket was so visibly scripted and lacking in awareness.
What made it so much worse is the strategy for which the Republicans have made Ms. Palin the frontwoman: win the White House not on ideas, but by denigrating experience, judgment and qualifications.
The idea that Americans want leaders who have none of those things — who are so blindly certain of what Ms. Palin calls “the mission” that they won’t even pause for reflection — shows a contempt for voters and raises frightening questions about how Mr. McCain and Ms. Palin plan to run this country.
One of the many bizarre moments in the questioning by ABC News’s Charles Gibson was when Ms. Palin, the governor of Alaska, excused her lack of international experience by sneering that Americans don’t want “somebody’s big fat résumé maybe that shows decades and decades in that Washington establishment where, yes, they’ve had opportunities to meet heads of state.”
We know we were all supposed to think of Joe Biden. But it sure sounded like a good description of Mr. McCain. Those decades of experience earned the Arizona senator the admiration of people in both parties. They are why he was our preferred candidate in the Republican primaries.
The interviews made clear why Americans should worry about Ms. Palin’s thin résumé and lack of experience. Consider her befuddlement when Mr. Gibson referred to President Bush’s “doctrine” and her remark about having insight into Russia because she can see it from her state.
But that is not what troubled us most about her remarks — and, remember, if they were scripted, that just means that they reflect Mr. McCain’s views all the more closely. Rather, it was the sense that thoughtfulness, knowledge and experience are handicaps for a president in a world populated by Al Qaeda terrorists, a rising China, epidemics of AIDS, poverty and fratricidal war in the developing world and deep economic distress at home.
Ms. Palin talked repeatedly about never blinking. When Mr. McCain asked her to run for vice president? “You have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission,” she said, that “you can’t blink.”
Fighting terrorism? “We must do whatever it takes, and we must not blink, Charlie, in making those tough decisions of where we go and even who we target.”
Her answers about why she had told her church that President Bush’s failed policy in Iraq was “God’s plan” did nothing to dispel our concerns about her confusion between faith and policy. Her claim that she was quoting a completely unrelated comment by Lincoln was absurd.
This nation has suffered through eight years of an ill-prepared and unblinkingly obstinate president. One who didn’t pause to think before he started a disastrous war of choice in Iraq. One who blithely looked the other way as the Taliban and Al Qaeda regrouped in Afghanistan. One who obstinately cut taxes and undercut all efforts at regulation, unleashing today’s profound economic crisis.
In a dangerous world, Americans need a president who knows that real strength requires serious thought and preparation.
On September 12, Bob Herbert's New York Times article simply reads "She's Not Ready," read the full article here and below:
While watching the Sarah Palin interview with Charlie Gibson Thursday night, and the coverage of the Palin phenomenon in general, I’ve gotten the scary feeling, for the first time in my life, that dimwittedness is not just on the march in the U.S., but that it might actually prevail.
How is it that this woman could have been selected to be the vice presidential candidate on a major party ticket? How is it that so much of the mainstream media has dropped all pretense of seriousness to hop aboard the bandwagon and go along for the giddy ride?
For those who haven’t noticed, we’re electing a president and vice president, not selecting a winner on “American Idol.”
Ms. Palin may be a perfectly competent and reasonably intelligent woman (however troubling her views on evolution and global warming may be), but she is not ready to be vice president.
With most candidates for high public office, the question is whether one agrees with them on the major issues of the day. With Ms. Palin, it’s not about agreeing or disagreeing. She doesn’t appear to understand some of the most important issues.
“Do you believe in the Bush doctrine?” Mr. Gibson asked during the interview. Ms. Palin looked like an unprepared student who wanted nothing so much as to escape this encounter with the school principal.
Clueless, she asked, “In what respect, Charlie?”
“Well, what do you interpret it to be?” said Mr. Gibson.
“His worldview?” asked Ms. Palin.
Later, in the spin zones of cable TV, commentators repeatedly made the point that there are probably very few voters — some specifically mentioned “hockey moms” — who could explain the Bush doctrine. But that’s exactly the reason we have such long and intense campaigns. You want to find the individuals who best understand these issues, who will address them in sophisticated and creative ways that enhance the well-being of the nation.
The Bush doctrine, which flung open the doors to the catastrophe in Iraq, was such a fundamental aspect of the administration’s foreign policy that it staggers the imagination that we could have someone no further than a whisper away from the White House who doesn’t even know what it is.
You can’t imagine that John McCain or Barack Obama or Joe Biden or Hillary Clinton or Joe Lieberman would not know what the Bush doctrine is. But Sarah Palin? Absolutely clueless.
Ms. Palin’s problem is not that she was mayor of a small town or has only been in the Alaska governor’s office a short while. Her problem (and now ours) is that she is not well versed on the critical matters confronting the country at one of the most crucial turning points in its history.
The economy is in a tailspin. The financial sector is lurching about on rubbery legs. We’re mired in self-defeating energy policies. We’re at war. And we are still vulnerable to the very real threat of international terrorism.
With all of that and more being the case, how can it be a good idea to set in motion the possibility that Americans might wake up one morning to find that Sarah Palin is president?
I feel for Ms. Palin’s son who has been shipped off to the war in Iraq. But at his deployment ceremony, which was on the same day as the Charlie Gibson interview, Sept. 11, she told the audience of soldiers that they would be fighting “the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the death of thousands of Americans.”
Was she deliberately falsifying history, or does she still not know that Iraq and Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with the Sept. 11 attacks?
To burnish the foreign policy credentials of a vice presidential candidate who never even had a passport until last year, the Republicans have been touting Alaska’s proximity to Russia. (Imagine the derisive laughter in conservative circles if the Democrats had tried such nonsense.) So Mr. Gibson asked Ms. Palin, “What insight into Russian actions, particularly in the last couple of weeks, does the proximity of the state give you?”
She said, “They’re our next-door neighbors. And you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska. From an island in Alaska.”
Mr. Gibson tried again. “But what insight does that give you,” he asked, “into what they’re doing in Georgia?”
John McCain, who is shameless about promoting himself as America’s ultimate patriot, put the best interests of the nation aside in making his incredibly reckless choice of a running mate. But there is a profound double standard in this country. The likes of John McCain and George W. Bush can do the craziest, most irresponsible things imaginable, and it only seems to help them politically.
McCain's top economic advisor, Carly Fiorina, the former CEO of HP is quoted as saying that Sarah Palin is not ready to run a corporation. The CNN.com article reads "Palin not ready to run a corporation," read the full article here and excerpts below:
Carly Fiorina, the former Hewlett-Packard CEO turned top John McCain aide, said she doesn't think Sarah Palin is qualified to run a major corporation. For that matter, Fiorina said, McCain, Obama and Biden aren't capable of that kind of job either.
The Republican presidential candidate has been trying to portray himself as someone who can fix the country's economic woes. But that is a far different task than running a Fortune 500 corporation, Fiorina told MSNBC Tuesday.
Democratic candidate Barack Obama's camp immediately circulated copies of her words -- which didn't exactly paint their candidate in a soft light, either.
"Well, I don't think John McCain could run a major corporation, I don't think Barack Obama could run a major corporation, I don't think Joe Biden could run a major corporation," Fiorina said.
"It is a fallacy to suggest that the country is like a company. So, of course, to run a business, you have to have a lifetime of experience in business, but that's not what Sarah Palin, John McCain, Joe Biden or Barack Obama are doing."
Fiorina was president of Hewlett-Packard until her high-profile ousting in 2006 after the company's unfavorable performance.
"If John McCain's top economic adviser doesn't think he can run a corporation, how on Earth can he run the largest economy in the world in the midst of a financial crisis?" said Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor. "Apparently, even the people who run his campaign agree that the economy is an issue John McCain doesn't understand as well as he should."

In a related story, the Palin camp has gone paranoid on the Alaska Legislative investigation as to whether her administration put undue pressure to have a state trooper fired... the state trooper who is the ex-husband of one of her sisters; they were enbroiled in an ugly divorce.
CNN.com reports that Palin allies are now suing the two Democrats on the five person commission (the other three are Republicans), calling the probe a "McCarthyistic" inquisition. Read the entire article below:
Allies of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin asked a judge Tuesday to halt the state Legislature's investigation into the firing of her public service commissioner, calling the probe a "McCarthyistic" inquisition.
The five Republican state lawmakers who filed suit said the two Democrats and the former Anchorage prosecutor leading the probe "are unable to hold the balance between vindicating their own political interests and the interests of those who are being investigated."
Palin, the Republican nominee for vice president, is battling allegations that she and her advisers pressured then-Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan to fire a state trooper going through a bitter custody dispute with Palin's sister -- and that Monegan was terminated when he refused. Palin says she fired Monegan over budget issues, and denies any wrongdoing.
One of those named in the lawsuit, Sen. Kim Elton, declined comment Tuesday.
Elton, the Democratic chairman of the bipartisan Legislative Council that commissioned the probe, and state Sen. Hollis French -- another Democrat and the lawmaker overseeing the investigation -- were named as defendants. So was Stephen Branchflower, the former Anchorage prosecutor hired to investigate Monegan's firing.
The lawsuit alleges that Elton, French and Branchflower "are conducting a McCarthyistic investigation in an unlawful, biased, partial and partisan political manner in order to impact the upcoming Alaska general and national presidential elections."
Palin originally pledged to cooperate with the investigation that the Alaska Legislative Council commissioned in July. But since becoming Sen. John McCain's running mate, campaign spokesmen have lashed out at the probe as "tainted" and "partisan," and fought to get the state Personnel Board to launch its own probe.
"I think it's fair to say that the governor is not going to cooperate with that investigation so long as it remained tainted and run by partisan individuals who have a predetermined conclusion," McCain-Palin campaign spokesman Ed O'Callaghan said Monday.
In particular, campaign officials singled out comments French made to ABC News that they said suggested the investigation could yield criminal charges or an "October Surprise" for the GOP ticket. And they accuse the probe of being "hijacked" by Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's campaign -- a charge the Obama campaign dismissed as "complete paranoia."
Monegan said he was repeatedly pressured to take action against State Trooper Mike Wooten, Palin's ex-brother-in-law, before his July dismissal.
Monday, the McCain-Palin campaign released documents it said bolster its argument that Monegan was fired over budget disputes and "egregious insubordination."
Read the CNN.com article about how Palin refuses to cooperate with the "Troopergate" investigation in Alaska that she vowed to support before she became John McCain's running mate here and here and here.
plez sez: ok, i admit it... i stole a line from "Dreamgirls" in my opening. but tina fey (one of the "not ready for prime time" players on SNL) is more credible as sarah palin than sarah palin as herself!
Saturday Night Live on September 13, 2008
this woman is bad for america on so many levels. and the decision making process that dredged her up from the dregs of alaskan politics to aspire to the second highest office in the land makes plezWorld wonder about the grasp that mccain and his handlers have on reality.
and is plezWorld the only one who sees something Bush-like in palin's behavior around this whole troopergate investigation? suing the commission members. refusing to cooperate with the commission. attempting to halt the investigation at all costs. hasn't EVERYTHING that has come out of the Bush white house been clouded with secrecy and the taint of executive privilege to hide misdeeds.
and what is up with her creepy husband shadowing her at all of the campaign stops?!?
Sen. John McCain used poor judgement in selecting a running mate for vice president without thoroughly vetting her. Gov. Sarah Palin "appears" to fit central casting for the Republican's role of right-wing idealogue, feminist, pro-life, family values candidate, but when one scratches just beneath the surface you find evidence of corruption, deceit, arrogance, and blind ambition.
She claims to be the mother of a four month old baby boy with Down Syndrome. Unfortunately, a growing mountain of evidence that was uncovered soon after her announcement as John McCain's running mate tends to point in the direction that her 17-year old unwed daughter is the real mother of Trig Palin. To make matters even more confusing, this 17-year old unwed daughter is apparently 5 months pregnant now (and has revealed the name of the father who plans to make her an "honest woman").
In order for the story about her daughter to fly, one has to believe that Gov. Sarah Palin waited until she was 7 months pregnant before telling the world (because no one could tell from looking at her), flew from Texas to Alaska on a commercial flight of more than 8 hours with a layover in Seattle even though her water had broken more than 12 hours earlier, gave birth to a premature baby in a small regional medical center which provides no evidence of the birth, and then went back to work 3 days after giving birth to a premature special needs baby. But the ONLY proof that Sarah Palin is the mother of Trig Palin is the "press release" conveniently stating that Bristol is 5 months pregnant and plans to marry the father of the baby. So one is led to believe that Bristol is not Trig's mother because she would've had to be pregnant with her current baby when Trig was born in April.
The mainstream media (MSM) has dispatched an army of investigative reporters to Alaska to vet Sarah Palin, since it seems that the McCain campaign is reluctant to do so. Since plezWorld lacks the funds for such an expedition, I've had to rely on newpaper articles, other blogs, news reports, and good ole YouTube to conduct a thorough plezVetting. What follows is the most comprehensive compendium of "facts" surrounding Sarah Palin's faked pregnancy that was gleaned from a fellow blogger. Please note that a number of links and YouTube videos are no longer accessible or available, the McCain campaign has been working overtime over the past week scrubbing incriminating pictures, stories, and videos from the Internet.
Do not be alarmed with the links that no longer work, the McCain camp is only doing its job!
Here are as many important Sarah Palin DOCUMENTED links that I can find:

~LINK~ The delivery Doctor, a FP, is in Wasilla, AK, which is 810 miles away from Junuea, where Sarah lives in the Governors Mansion. Somehow, during her pregnancy from Sept to delivery in April, she has time to take a bumpy flight, make her regular doctor appointments for high-risk pregnancy, i would assume about at 200 mph in a small plane, it is 3 hrs away, most of it in winter weather. So her "plan" for a normal delivery was to somehow get from Juneau to Wasilla 810 miles away(driving) to see her Dr., a family Dr, or fly in likely bad April weather, 3 hrs, bumpy ride, 44 yr old woman carrying a Downs baby. So she didn't expect to fly from Texas to Alaska to have her baby, she did "expect" to fly from Juneau, in full pregnancy, in April skies, to deliver her baby in the trusted hands of her FP, Dr. Cathy Baldwin-Johnson. Why bother with an Obstetrician in Juneau when the trusted Dr. Johnson is ready for the catch in Wasilla, only 800 miles away!
~LINK~ Now McCain campaign doesn't plan on allowing Sarah Palin to give any interviews to the press. She may never give one they say! And yet the answers are so very simple, the longer it goes on, the clearer the answers become. Why not just stop this mess, have the Hospital spokesman call a newspaper and give a statement, that easy!

right now, i'm going to need to see some solid evidence that Sarah Palin gave birth on April 18, 2008. if this is allowed to stand, this will be the biggest coverup since the JFK assassination!

BLOG UPDATE (12/30/2008): Bristol Palin gives birth to son. Read more...
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
There is never a good time to drag the family members (especially the children) of a candidate through the mud, except when said candidate makes it a point to make their children part of the equation. Such is the case with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. By aspiring for the second highest position in the land - a heartbeat from the presidency - this woman has dragged her politics and family out of the backwoods of the Alaskan high country into the living room of every American.
As plezWorld mentioned in a previous post, the question of the maternity of the Palin baby is not the issue, the issue is the public trust and judgement of Sarah Palin to be the Vice President of the United States.
*** THE BOMBSHELL ***
Almost as if the McCain/Palin campaign has been perusing the blogosphere over the last 2 days, they have come up with a plausible reason WHY the 17-year old daughter is not the mother of the 4-month old Palin baby... because she is currently 5 months pregnant!
plezWorld has to admit, I never saw this coming... but it also raises more than a few eyebrows about the Palins and their extremely fertile womenfolk!
By extension, she has begged the following questions:
Who is the mother of the 4-month old Palin boy? Sarah Palin? Or 17-year old Bristol Palin?
Is it true that Sarah Palin went into labor a month early in Texas while carrying a special needs baby and still decided to take an 8 hour commercial flght all the back to Alaska to give birth in a small regional medical facility that doesn't have a neo-natal ICU? Or did the Palins fly back from Texas to meet their pregnant daughter who had gone into labor at a small regional medical facility?
Take a look at these pictures of the newborn Palin baby on the day he was born (here), does this look like a preemie? Would you have a premature baby out and about in the hospital on the day he was born?
Based on news that broke on Monday afternoon (read articles here and here and here and here), is 17-year old Bristol Palin really 5 months pregnant? Or is this a ruse to "throw us off the scent" of the true maternity of the 4-month old baby?
And if young Bristol is pregnant, did she get pregnant while layed up with mononucleosis? Or was the bout with mono a ruse to "throw us off the scent" of something more salacious and newsworthy?!?
If the McCain campaign was so comfortable with the knowledge that Palin's 17-year old pregnant unwed daughter (who missed a significant portion of the last school year with a mysterious disease), why did they wait until the Internet blew up with the story about Sarah Palin being a grandmother to release that information? Or was that story made up over the weekend as the grandmother story started bubbling up?
How willing is this young man (Levi Johnston) to get married and become a father? (Read these stories about Bristol's young beau who claims that he doesn't want kids here and here to gain some insight - notice how she mysteriously left school mid-year to attend another school in Anchorage)
Will the fact that her 17-year old daughter got knocked up make Sarah Palin re-think her stance on abstinence-only sex education in public schools?
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
What was the extent of the McCain vetting process for Palin? Why weren't key legislators, business leaders, and community leaders consulted in the vetting process for Palin? Has the family of Bristol's boyfriend been vetted?
John McCain wrapped up his nomination a whole 2 months before Barack Obama, why was he so lax and cursory in his vetting of possible running mates? Why was Gov. Palin picked at "the last minute"? (Read about McCain's vetting of Palin here)
Lastly, does this whole mess with Gov. Palin sound like a person who is serious candidate to be the Vice President of the United States? Does this whole mess sound like John McCain is a serious candidate to be President of the United States?
Full statement from Sarah and Todd Palin: "We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us. Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support.
"Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi’s privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates."
plez sez: ain't this some *ish*!!! instead of clearing up the mystery surrounding the 4-month old palin baby, the palin family and the mccain campaign have ratcheted up the scrutiny around this whole sordid affair. to plezWorld it seems that the palins have come up with one lie to coverup another lie. i have no idea where this will lead, but i do know that this was a BAD IDEA to subject the citizens of the united states to the possibility of having someone with such poor judgement to the presidency. george w. bush may be an idiot, but sarah palin is even worse!
this is a sad state of us politics... we can only hope that gov. palin will drop out of the race to attend to the needs of her growing family.
BLOG UPDATE (12/30/2008): Bristol Palin gives birth to son. Read more...

Yup, it's come to this. plezWorld has dipped a toe into the muckity-muck of yellow journalism. The story is delicious (politics, sex, Republicans), the storyline is wrought with family scandal, sexual misdeeds, and lies... and the supposed coverup begs an investigation!
This is what you get when the nominee for President of the United States does not adequately vet his running mate: the blogosphere is left to speculate and fill in the blanks...
Gov. Sarah Palin showed up at her coming out party in Dayton, OH on Friday with her family in tow. She blathered on about being a suitable surrogate for the job left unfinished by Sen. Hillary Clinton. She talked about bold initiatives and moving things forward and joining John McCain's administration as his second-in-command. She even brought along her sizeable family to the event: a rugged looking husband (high school sweetheart), and a gaggle of kids ranging from early twenties to a cuddly infant.
Question: Is the infant Palin's son or grandson?
The American public was told that this baby was born prematurely to Palin with a genetic disorder known as Down Syndrome.
From the time that she announced the pregnancy in March 2008, until the baby was born prematurely in April 2008, there has been a cloud of mystery over a lady who never appeared to be pregnant to a teenage daughter who suddenly disappears from high school during the latter stages of her mother's pregnancy.
After being told of the pregnancy back in March (one month before the baby was born), Alaska Senate President Lyda Green, a mother of three, is quoted as saying, "It's wonderful. She's very well-disguised. When I was five months pregnant, there was absolutely no question that I was with child."
Seeming to lay the groundwork for a speedy return to the office, Palin said that she was not aiming to take any time off from her job as governor, assuming all goes well with the pregnancy. When 7 year old Piper was born -- Palin was mayor of Wasilla at the time -- the baby was born on a Monday and she returned to the office on Tuesday.
The Anchorage Daily News reported that Palin said she decided to reveal the pregnancy after she felt the signs were giving her away, like doing less running this winter and being "ravenously hungry." She's also known as a fashion plate, but said she hasn't been dressing differently to cover her barely perceptible bulge.
On the day of Baby Palin's birth, April 18, the local NBC affiliate published the following story on their website:
ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Gov. Sarah Palin gave birth to her fifth child at about 6:30 a.m. Friday morning.
Trig Paxson Van Palin was born at Mat-Su Regional Hospital about one month before he was scheduled to arrive.
Trig Palin weighs six pounds, two ounces.
A press release from the governor's office says Palin and her new son are both "doing well and resting comfortably."
The Palins released the following statement:
"Trig is beautiful and already adored by us. We knew through early testing he would face special challenges, and we feel privileged that God would entrust us with this gift and allow us unspeakable joy as he entered our lives. We have faith that every baby is created for good purpose and has potential to make this world a better place. We are truly blessed."
Just yesterday, Palin was in Texas at a forum on energy with Texas Gov. Rick Perry and executives from four other states.
Palin was asked at the forum whether or not she would accept an offer by Republican presidential candidate John McCain to share the national ticket as vice presidential nominee.
She said she would accept, according to reports from a Texas newspaper.
The governor's water broke during the energy conference but she stayed and gave a 30-minute speech before boarding an Alaska Airlines plane home to deliver the baby.
Gov. Palin's parents, Sally and Chuck Heath, visited with their new grandson Friday afternoon.
The grandfather says Trig is named after his great uncle, a Bristol Bay fisherman, while the name Paxson comes from the well-known snowmachining area.
Both baby and mom are doing well, said Chuck Heath, and will be going home Saturday.
"She's tired, yeah. She traveled, well, she was at that convention, traveled all night, gave birth this morning, what have you, and hasn't slept today. She's tired," he said.
In April 22, 2008, a few days after the baby was born, the Daily News Miner in Fairbanks, Alaska published an article that called the story about Gov. Palin's pregnancy into question:
Daily News Miner, by Rebecca George, April 22, 2008
Gov. Sarah Palin’s decision to make the eight-hour flight from Dallas to Anchorage has some people wondering about the possible safety hazards of flying while in the late stages of pregnancy.
The governor, eight months into her pregnancy, noticed amniotic fluid Thursday morning prior to giving a keynote luncheon address at the Republican Governor’s Energy Conference in Texas. After wrapping up the speech, Palin and her husband consulted with her physician about possibly flying home on an earlier flight. After being granted permission from her doctor, she and her husband proceeded with the trek home.
At that point, Palin was only having minor contractions and was not showing signs of active labor, Sharon Leighow, the governor’s spokeswoman, said on Monday.
After the baby was born, Palin told her staff members that her experiences from four previous pregnancies made her comfortable with the signs of active labor. She felt that neither she nor her baby were in any danger, and so she flew home as scheduled.
Most airlines have specific policies concerning air travel during pregnancy, especially during the final months. For women traveling in the final month of pregnancy, a “permission-to-travel” letter is required by her primary physician. However, most restrictions rely on an honor policy that leaves the decision to notify the airline in the hands of the passenger.
The governor did not feel the need to inform the airline of her condition, Leighow said.
Alaska Airlines is one of the few airlines that does not have a policy regarding flight during pregnancy.
“We leave the decision to fly up to our customers and their medical advisers,” according to Alaska Airlines representative Caroline Boren.
Palin told her staff that she would not have boarded the plane had she thought she or her baby were in danger.
Had Palin needed medical assistance during the flight, ground agents and flight attendants for the airline are highly trained to look for signs of distress or other concerns with a passenger’s condition, Boren said.
“Governor Palin was extremely pleasant to flight attendants and her stage of pregnancy was not apparent by observation as she didn’t show any signs of distress,” Boren said.
Flight crew members are not specifically trained to assist in labor during a flight. But had Palin gone into active labor while en route to Anchorage, the crew would have been prepared to offer medical assistance through a system known as Med Link, a medical advisory service that allows crew members to radio for medical help during the flight.
The flight would not have needed to land, barring any emergency with the delivery.
No medical assistance was necessary for Palin during the flight.
Palin’s flight landed at 10:30 p.m. Thursday. She and her husband drove to the Mat-Su Valley Regional Medical Center, and she checked in with her doctor an hour later.
Trig Paxson Van Palin was born seven hours later.
The governor confirmed Monday that early testing showed that Trig was born with Down syndrome. The syndrome is a chromosomal disorder caused by the presence of all or part of an extra 21st chromosome.
Trig is the governor’s fifth child. She told her staff members that Trig was the easiest delivery of all her children.

plez sez: this whole story hinges on a lot of conjecture, circumstantial evidence, and rumor. no major media outlet - other than the National Enquirer - would touch this story without more concrete evidence. but remember, it was the Enquirer that broke the john edwards story over 6 months before the mainstream media caught on! but this is the freakin' blogosphere where just the hint of inpropriety can blossom into a full-blown story. just remember where you read it first!
this is what you get when 72-year old man (who obviously isn't very bright) pops one of those little blue pills before sitting down to a face-to-face interview with a svelte, attractive, former beauty queen! and if she had the where with all to flash some coochie (a la Sharon Stone in "Basic Instinct"), he probably offered her the vp job after a few cursory questions!
this whole affair (from picking a running mate after one meeting to that running mate raising a grandbaby as her own to hide the fact of a teenage daughter's sexual frolick) is so fantastic, so unbelievable, that plezWorld wonders how it cannot be true!
teenage daughter is pulled out of school for over 5 months due to a bout with mono (unless she was near death, most cases clear up in 4 to 6 weeks)
the governor's staff was shocked when they found out that she was 7 months pregnant... she never "showed"!
click here to see palin when she was 6 months pregnant (in case you're wondering, palin is the lady on the right)
governor palin was in texas at an event when her "water broke" that morning: she went ahead with plans to gave a speech, she called her doctor and got clearance to fly back to alaska on a commercial flight (a direct flight of no less than 8 hours)
the flight crew wasn't notified and they couldn't tell that she was pregnant or if she was in labor
the governor delivers the baby at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer, Alaska (near the town where she grew up), a small regional hospital without a neonatal icu that is almost an hour drive from Anchorage, even though she knew she was delivering a premature special needs baby
the governor returns to the office (hosting a meeting on the natural gas pipeline ) THREE DAYS after the delivery
all pictures of the governor and her family (during the time of her "pregnancy") have been removed from the Alaska government site
remember that palin is extremely anti-choice and extremely conservative. while she was running for governor, palin stated in a debate that even if her daughter became pregnant in the result of a rape, she would “choose life”. even the most ardent pro-lifers out there would offer an abortion in cases of rape or incest. palin comes off as a right-wing extremist!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
is it a bad thing if the governor and her husband have decided to raise their grandson as their own to spare the embarassment of their 17-year old daughter? nope.
it's not even particularly bad if their daughter was out having unprotected sex, running the risk of getting pregnant or any number of STD's (yeah, they have those in Alaska, too)! it isn't even particularly bad if the governor forbade her teenage daughter from having an abortion, even though they claimed to know that the child had Down Syndrome.
BUT, once again, one must ask that if john mccain had known that this "family values" governor was lying to the public about an unwanted pregnancy by her daughter, do you think she would still be his running mate? (on a completely different matter, if sarah palin looked like janet reno, do you think john mccain would've picked her to be his running mate?)
the utter hypocrisy of the right wing is so appalling, and it would be less-so if they didn't come off as so freakin' self-righteous when they are subject to the same human frailties as everyone else!
now plezWorld normally adheres to the maxim "live and let live," but this woman is running for the second highest position in the land... and she has not been properly vetted... AND it appears that she is hiding a pretty big secret pretty poorly! if the headlines were to read "alaskan governor lied about pregnancy to protect daughter," i could not care less, but if the headlines were to read "vice president lied about pregnancy to protect daughter," i'm afraid that i would have to begin questioning what other salacious family secrets she's hiding (is that baby a product of incest - her husband or son?).
and since we're speculating, here is what happened in Alaska (according to plezWorld):
the teenage daughter has been sexually active for quite some time and realized 3 or 4 months in that she was pregnant. the palins pull her out of school and concoct the mono story. early amnio tests show that the baby has Down Syndrome. the palins wait a few months to see if their daughter will carry the baby to term before Palin has to deliver the "late breaking" pregnancy announcement to her stunned staff and the press... she couldn't just run out and buy one of those fake pregnancy bellies to make herself look 7 months pregnant. no one knew that the teenage daughter would go into labor a month early, which is why Palin was in texas at the time her daughter went into labor. it was the teenager's first pregnancy, so the governor knew she had at least half of a day to get back to alaska before the baby would be delivered.
there is no way that a doctor would permit a woman carrying a special needs baby whose water broke in the eighth month of pregnancy fly for 8 hours back to Alaska, especially a 44-year old woman who already had 4 children! my mother had five of us, and she told me that labor grew significantly shorter with each subsequent child.
the palins landed in anchorage and met their daughter at that backwater hospital - just outside the small town where she grew up and was mayor - the palins know all the doctors and the staff there. their daughter delivered the baby and sarah claimed the baby was hers!
plezWorld must know... is gov. sarah palin a grandmother at 44?!?
