US Rep. Cynthia McKinney Hits Capitol Officer

I didn't really want to post this, because Cynthia McKinney is the Congresswoman for my district, she's always such an embarrassment, and I didn't want to bring any more attention to our situation... well, here goes: Rep. Cynthia McKinney of Georgia struck a Capitol Hill police officer Wednesday morning after the officer, not recognizing her as a member of Congress, tried to stop her from stepping around a security checkpoint.

Unfortunately, I have to side with my Congresswoman because who doesn't know this nappy-headed loudmouth from Georgia?!? I hope she doesn't get in too much trouble because I can't believe that the security detail around the Capitol wouldn't know ALL of the Black Caucus Members, especially one as colorful as Ms. McKinney!

March 31, 2006 - BLOG UPDATE:
Rep. McKinney faces charges after security incident.

As my neighbor and DeKalb County Commissioner Hank Johnson said so eloquently:
"For years, it's the people of the 4th District who have suffered and been shortchanged because of our representative's behavior in Congress. It's why she is ineffective in Congress."

Lawd have mercy, they gonna throw my girl in the slammer!

Why is McKinney an embarrassment?
Because she said that Bush knew about 9/11 and the Republicans along with the help of some backstabbing Dems wanted her dead?

And lo and behold she was correct. LOL

I wish her comments about 9/11 were the extent of her embarrassment, but alas it goes back farther than that. First, no Republicans wanted her dead; her incessant babbling off the top of her head constantly gave them fodder with which to pillory the Democrats (they were all over this last gaff with the Capitol security, in light of the Democrats new foreign policy stance). I'm sure the Republicans cannot wait for her to open her mouth!

Example 1: When she first ran for Congress in our shiny new district, she refused to make any public appearances with her competitor. I organized a "meet the candidates" forum in my neighborhood and her "handlers" were very adamant about getting my assurance that her main competitor would not be there. When I told them that he (a White guy who didn't stand a snowball's chance in Hell of winning) had indeed confirmed his attendance, they said that she would not attend. She never made an appearance with him during the entire campaign.

Example 2: I had occassion to moderate a debate between Cynthia McKinney and Denise Magette (the person who thankfully ousted her from Congress in 2002). For the entire campaign, she refused to appear at any venue where Denise Magette spoke. Using some people close to her campaign, we were able to coax her out to a debate at my subdivision a few weeks before the November elections (it was so rare for her to show up at one of these forums, CNN sent a news crew out to film it).

Once again, Cynthia McKinney was arrogant and refused to comply with our forum instructions that she was not to bring her campaign organizers (and barkers) into the meeting room with our residents. They were in the back, hooting and hollering at everything stupid thing she said - it was an embarrassment.

When she spoke, she confirmed every fear I had of having an ignoramus representing me in Congress. She is ill-informed, surly, and is no slave to factual information. She claimed that White Republicans in the northern part of DeKalb County had put Denise Magette up to running against her, even though Denise Magette is a Democrat. During the debate, part of her repetoire was a recap of her assertion that Bush knew all about 9/11 and did nothing to stop it. The audience was agast - needless to say, neither Cynthia McKinney nor roderick can supply evidence supporting such an outlandish claim. I do take solace in my hope that her one appearance that evening was enough to make her lose the election!

So when I refer to my Congresswoman as Nappy-headed Cynthia McKinney, I do it as someone who has been up close and far too personal with the woman. I can't wait for the day that another candidate can stand up to "The Establishment" and run her ass back to private life!

Well, try having Tom Delay as a Congressman. I moved recently and still can't get out of his district.

Also, nappy is natural for blacks. I think the days of ridiculing or belittling someone for having natural hair are over.

Terrence,

I will admit that I did go overboard by referring to her as Nappy-headed Cynthia McKinney and I apologize.

I just couldn't bring myself to use another N-word to belittle her.

Roderick: Didn't the Republicans cross over and vote in the Democratic primary in 2002 and vote for Magette?

I wonder why Magette thought she could run for Senator in 2004?
Maybe she was counting on some of those Republican votes she got in the 2002 primary, but they kicked her to the curb after they got their pitiful revenge on McKinney for speaking the truth.

Roderick: OMG from reading some of your post on bookerrising, I thought you were sane but you sound like another one of the Bush pod people. Plez look at the evidence. Why did Bush stonewall an investigation into 9/11?
Why did he send his fall girl Condi to testify UNDER OATH in front of the 9/11 commission in exchange for the 9/11 commission allowing Bush and Cheney to testify in secret off the record?

When Bush realized that there was going to be a commision regardless who did he want to be the chairman- freaking Henry Kissenger.

plez...: Roderick, you're long on conjecture, short on facts, my friend. Since you don't have to register for a party in Georgia, I would assume that a good number of White Republicans did cross over and vote for Magette. I don't know, because i don't live in North DeKalb. The 4th Congressional District is overwhelmingly Black, so I do know that a good number of Blacks in South DeKalb supported Majette, because she won the race pretty convincingly.

Seeing as you know a great deal about politics in Georgia, I'm sure you also know that it is extremely difficult for a Black person, especially a Democrat, to win a statewide election in a state with a Republican Governor, 2 Republican Senators, and a Republican dominated State House and State Senate (hell, Andrew Young couldn't do it when the state had majority Democrats running the state government and he was alot better known that Denise Majette). Majette made a huge error in judgement!

plez...: I'm sorry that I don't consistently tow the party line, that's just not my style. But I'm damn sure not a "Bush pod person". Bush (and his boyz & Condi) didn't prepare adequately for 9/11 and they had A LOT to hide (the Michael Moore movie "Farenheit 9/11" exposed a great deal), especially their playing footsie with those countries (Saudi Arabia & Afghanastan) that are cozy with the terrorists. BUT I still haven't seen (or heard) evidence that Bush knew that 9/11 was going to happen (maybe I just can't allow myself to believe it).

Roderick: LOL, I think you're like Grey Ghost. You claim to be a Democrat ( like Zell Miller) but you only critize and bash Democrats.

This administration has a long history of lying about important issues.

I guess you forgot that the FBI ran a scenario which mirrored what happened on 9/11 in 2000 and Condi lied under oath that she had never heard of such a scenerio (either that or she's incompetent like they say).

Just the other day it was revealed that Bush knew that what he spoke about Iraq in his 2003 SOTU address was a pack of lies and Rove and the White House aides conspired to keep it a secret until after the 2004 elections.

"Karl Rove, President Bush's chief political adviser, cautioned other White House aides in the summer of 2003 that Bush's 2004 re-election prospects would be severely damaged if it was publicly disclosed that he had been personally warned that a key rationale for going to war had been challenged within the administration. Rove expressed his concerns shortly after an informal review of classified government records by then-Deputy National Security Adviser Stephen J. Hadley determined that Bush had been specifically advised that claims he later made in his 2003 State of the Union address -- that Iraq was procuring high-strength aluminum tubes to build a nuclear weapon -- might not be true, according to government records and..."

And let's not forget about the secret torture prisons in some of the former Soviet Union countries and the NSA spy program, all of the 'missing' reconstruction funds in Iraq, etc.

Roderick: Think about it. Would blacks who make up the majority of a congressional district even have bothered to vote especially in a primary? No

Primaries have notoriously low turnouts in the first place and the reason that Republicans crossed-over to vote in the Democratic primary is because they thought they could make a difference.

Roderick: Don't condesend to me. I keep up with politics and I do my research and I use common sense to come to my conclusions. If I don't know about a subject I will not speak about it.

The points that you made was what made me wonder what Majette was thinking when she ran for U.S. Senator of a 'conservative' state like GA. Unless she was promised the chance by the Dems for running against and unseating McKinney in 2002.

plez...: I NEVER claimed to be a Democrat, but I've also NEVER been a defender of Bush nor Condi Rice. Unfortunately, you caught me on a topic where I'm very unhappy with my Democratic representative in Congress. She makes herself very easy to bash!

Roderick: This administration has a long history of lying about important issues.

plez...: I agree with you on this one! I do not like George Bush, I've never voted for George Bush, and I cannot wait until he's out of office. To be honest, he's a worse embarrassment for this country than Cynthia McKinney is for my district, but this post is about Ms. McKinney.

Roderick: Think about it. Would blacks who make up the majority of a congressional district even have bothered to vote especially in a primary? No.

plez...: The Majette vs. McKinney Primary election was hotly contested and there was a pretty heavy turnout, since the winner of that race was more than likely assured of being our Congressional Representative. The forum that I moderated between the two was even covered by CNN.

plez...: Well, I know why Denise Majette ran in 2002: she had the experience and qualifications to unseat an unqualified and ineffectual congresswoman, and return a modicum of dignity to the 4th Congressional District of Georgia.

I have no idea why Rep. Majette thought she could win a statewide election in one of the reddest of Red States. Even if you are correct that the north DeKalb Republicans had promised her their support, that still would've never been enough to carry a state that had a White opponent with a more conservative pedigree and much wider name recognation than her.
